Employee Spotlight: Stephanie’s Journey of Heart, Growth, and Community


At MORA, we believe our team members are the heart of what we do. Their passion, resilience, and dedication to person-centered care are what make our mission real every day. Today, we’re honored to spotlight Stephanie, a longtime team member whose journey reflects the very best of MORA’s values.

Stephanie first joined MORA in 2016 as a Program Coordinator. She was inspired by someone very close to her: her sister Jessica, who had joined the organization the year before.

“She talked about how much she enjoyed her job, how meaningful the work was, and how much she loved the team culture,” Stephanie shared. It wasn’t long before she found herself walking through the doors of MORA, ready to make a difference.

Although she briefly left the organization after relocating, Stephanie returned to MORA in 2019 as a DSP. “I had missed it so much,” she said. That sense of belonging and purpose brought her back. She rejoined first in a direct care role, then ultimately stepped into a leadership position. In January 2025, Stephanie became Program Director, fully committed to leading with care and compassion.

A Career Rooted in Connection

For Stephanie, the most meaningful parts of her work have always been the relationships she’s built with the people we serve.

“My proudest moment was having my clients attend my wedding,” she told us. “They celebrated with me and my family and danced the night away. They’ve become part of my life and have supported me in ways I’ll never forget.”

During her time as an on-call DSP, Stephanie made it a priority to create memorable experiences. She organized painting classes, museum trips, football games, and holiday outings. “Every outing was a reminder that my work matters. Seeing joy on their faces and creating new opportunities makes a difference.”

A True Advocate for Person-Centered Care

Stephanie is a powerful voice for what person-centered care looks like in action.

“To me, it means treating people with dignity and respect, listening to their wants, needs, and dreams,” she said. “I see it every day in the way our staff advocate, create meaningful opportunities, and empower those we serve.”

She also recognizes the impact MORA’s programs have on the broader community. From the growth of our case management and residential services to the creativity of our recreation team, Stephanie sees MORA’s evolving impact and is proud to be part of it.

“MORA continues to raise the bar for disability services. I haven’t seen this level of commitment anywhere else.”

A Culture of Support and Growth

Stephanie describes MORA’s culture as positive, resilient, and value-driven. She credits the people around her for that.

“Collaboration and teamwork are what make MORA special. There’s always someone ready to help, no matter the challenge. That sense of support has helped me grow as a leader and person.”

One memory stands out that reminded Stephanie just how powerful that support can be. “I received really difficult news while on shift, and the individuals I support were the first to comfort me. They checked in on me during the next few shifts and reminded me I wasn’t alone. That’s the kind of care that defines MORA—not just from staff, but from the people we serve too.”

Stephanie’s Advice for Future Team Members

To those considering a career with MORA, Stephanie’s message is heartfelt and clear:

“Don’t hesitate. Join something bigger than yourself. You’ll find purpose, connection, and a team that truly values your work.”

Looking back, she says the biggest lesson she’s learned at MORA is to see the value in every person. “This work has taught me to listen more, judge less, and appreciate the uniqueness everyone brings to the table.”

Looking Toward the Future

Ts she reflects on MORA’s future, Stephanie is filled with pride and excitement.

“I’m so proud of how we’re growing and leading the way in disability services. Our leadership cares deeply about where we’re headed, and that’s inspiring.”

She believes MORA will continue expanding its reach and evolving to meet the changing needs of the community.

“MORA rises to meet the moment. Always. And I’m honored to be a part of that.”
