Because of You: Building Moments of Meaning at MORA

A message from Executive Director Danielle Fox

On December 1, MORA was honored to gather with supporters, residents, staff, and volunteers for an unforgettable evening at the VocalEssence concert. The energy in the room was truly moving. Beautiful music filled the space, but even more powerful was the sense of togetherness and shared joy.

Many attendees shared how meaningful it was to see residents, staff, volunteers, and supporters celebrating side by side. Moments like these remind us of the strong, compassionate community that defines MORA and the relationships at the heart of our mission.

One of our board members, Sue Durkin, captured the spirit of the evening perfectly in her reflection:

“The event last night was absolutely delightful. The reception was outstanding, with beautiful surroundings and amazing food. I especially appreciated watching the interactions between the residents and their caregivers. While I have had other opportunities, last night I was able to simply observe.

The first thing I noticed is that our residents are genuinely happy. They participated in the music, interacted with each other, and most importantly, interacted with their caregivers in very positive ways. It was clear to see the trust our residents have in the DSPs providing care. I watched residents reaching out for their caregivers, holding hands, and laughing. I observed an interaction between a younger nonverbal resident and her caregiver, eyes locked and communicating in their own special way. I wondered if the resident was thinking, ‘I am so glad she is with me tonight. She is my favorite.’

Everyone is so kind and attentive to needs. I am so grateful for these opportunities and to be a part of this organization.”

The moments Sue describes reflect the compassion, dedication, and heart of our staff. They are also made possible by the generosity of those who believe in MORA’s mission and choose to support our work.

As we approach the end of the year, we invite you to consider making a year-end gift to MORA. Your support helps ensure experiences like this continue by strengthening our programs, supporting dedicated staff, and creating opportunities for connection, dignity, and joy for the people we serve.

Thank you for being part of the MORA community. We wish you a very happy 2026!

With gratitude,
Danielle Fox
