Tuesday, March 28, Mount Olivet Rolling Acres staff, clients, and guardians met with hundreds of disability advocates from across the state at the Minnesota Capitol, filling the Capitol Rotunda.

On this day of advocacy, we asked our legislators to support a series of bills that will increase funding to organizations like MORA. While most legislators support this increase in funding — particularly as Minnesota runs a $17.5 billion surplus budget — our advocacy work continues until state’s budget is approved in July.

Disability services are in danger and we need support from your administration. Providers across the state are facing unprecedented staffing shortages, turning away individuals who need support, and in some cases are closing their doors all together.

It’s imperative that Minnesota include funding for disability services in this year’s budget and legislation. One Minnesota means everyone, including individuals with disabilities and the staff supporting them.

Please work to ensure the Competitive Workforce Factor funding is included in the budget, as this will help bring us closer to service sustainability.

DEAR X,

The disabilities services industry is facing a crisis. Providers across the State are facing unprecedented staffing shortages, turning away individuals who need support, and some are closing their doors all together. It’s imperative that Minnesota include funding for disability services in this year’s budget and legislation.

Please ensure the Competitive Workforce Factor funding is included in the budget. This measure will allow disability service organizations and the people they serve are able to survive this crisis!

Thank you,
