In Loving Memory of Suzanne Luckow

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Suzanne Luckow, a beloved member of the MORA community, who left us in September of this year. Suz, as she was affectionately known, became part of the Rolling Acres family at just seven years old, and for the next 55 years, she truly made MORA her home.

Over the decades, Suzanne’s journey took her from our main campus to Janview and, most recently, back to campus again for the last two years of her life. Through each chapter, one thing remained constant: her vibrant spirit and unmistakable charm.

Suz was known for her playful personality and her strong sense of style. She had a sharp eye (especially for glasses!) and loved to “borrow” a pair if they caught her fancy. Her love of music, particularly playing her keyboard, often filled the room with melodies that matched her joyful energy. She had a remarkable intuition about people—always seeming to know who was kind, trustworthy, and worth a smile.

Longtime MORA employee Doug Wood shared a few fond memories of Suz that perfectly capture her unique spirit:

“We once had a phone in the hallway for residents to use. Suzanne—always curious and full of mischief—would sometimes pick it up and start dialing random numbers. A few times, she even accidentally called 911, which led to some surprise visits from local police! After a few of those, they kindly suggested we remove the hallway phone altogether.”

Suzanne found joy in life’s simple pleasures—singing, working on puzzles, and eagerly participating in any activity she could. One of her favorite pastimes was flipping through magazines, page by page, at her own pace. Every now and then, she’d come across a photo of Lucille Ball. Her face would light up as she exclaimed, “Lucy, Lucy!”—always followed by a delighted giggle or smile.

Suz brought joy, laughter, and warmth into the lives of everyone around her. Her presence, her voice, and her laughter became part of the fabric of our community. And though words can never fully capture what she meant to us, we will carry her memory in our hearts always.

We are honored to share a message from Suzanne’s family:

Thank You

We want to extend or deepest gratitude to the incredible caregivers at Mt. Olivet Rolling Acres who surrounded our sister with love, compassion and support throughout her 55 years as a resident. She relied on your care every single day, and you gave her not only comfort and dignity, but also joy, friendship and a true sense of belonging.

Because of you, she lived a life filled with warmth and tenderness. Now that she has gone on to her eternal resting place, we hold close the peace of knowing she was so well loved here on earth.

Thank you for being her extended family and for walking this journey with us.

Forever grateful,
