Meet Gina, a vibrant and outgoing person who is making the most of every season by staying active, connected, and engaged in her community. Through Individualized Home Support with Training at Mount Olivet Rolling Acres (MORA), she continues to build independence while enjoying meaningful experiences that reflect her personality and interests.
Gina fills her schedule with activities she genuinely loves. Whether she is heading out for exciting adventures like Valleyfair or watching the Shakopee Shockwaves waterski team perform or taking in the calm of a peaceful hike through a regional park, she embraces each experience fully. What makes it even more special is that Gina plays an active role in planning her outings. She often invites peers from Community Supports to join her, turning shared activities into lasting friendships.
One of the highlights of Gina’s week is her dedicated support time:
“My name is Gina and I receive respite support from MORA on Tuesday afternoon. I look forward to Tuesday because I really enjoy my respite staff and the activities that we do together. Staff allows me to pick what I want to do for the day, which is fantastic! On some Tuesdays, we go to the gym and play Uno, plus there’s a lake next to the gym where we go out on boat rides. I like going to the Arboretum, where we take a walk and look at all the beautiful flowers. We also go to Dave and Buster’s, Golf Zone, Starbucks, the movie theater and another one of my favorites is to go out for dinner. I love bacon cheeseburgers! I also liked going to Camp McGregor, great place!
My staff makes sure that every Tuesday is a FUN Day for me, and I am thankful for the staff that works with me! They are always kind and attentive!”
Lauren Berg has spent a lot of time working with Gina:
“Getting to know Regina has been wonderful. It’s rare that I find someone who will have good banter with me when it comes to a competitive game of uno. From paddleboard rides and campfires to table games and getting out and about, she does it all. She’s got a calm presence about her and a great sense of humor.”
Along with exploring her community, Gina is also developing practical life skills. She works on budgeting for her preferred activities, building confidence in managing money and making choices that support her goals.
Through thoughtful planning, meaningful social connections, and continued skill building, Gina is creating a strong foundation for her future while fully enjoying the experiences that matter most to her today.
